News is Good is a weekly column featuring positive news about the LGBTQ+ community. Too much of what we see in mainstream media coverage focuses on the challenges we face and not the celebrations. Here are five things we’re excited about this week.

The famed Sundance Film Festival announced its slate for 2023 and it includes nearly 20 features and shorts with LGBTQ+ characters and storylines including “Cassandro,” about a gay wrester from Mexico and “Fairyland,” a film about a gay father and his daughter in ’70s San Fransisco. Sundance takes place Jan. 19–29 in Park City, Utah.
