GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics has announced the winners of the 2024 Dorian TV Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in television and streaming. In its16th year, the awards celebrated shows and talents that have made a significant impact in the industry.
According to a press release sent out by GALECA, Max’s hit series “Hacks” emerged as a big winner, taking home four awards, including Best TV Comedy and Best Written TV Show. AMC’s “Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire” also stood out, earning three awards, including Best TV Drama, Best LGBTQ TV Show and Best Genre TV Show.
The awards also spotlight categories that highlight the diverse storytelling in television. FX’s “Reservation Dogs,” a show about close-knit Indigenous friends in rural Oklahoma, was honored with Best Unsung TV Show, while SYFY/USA’s horror-comedy “Chucky” was recognized as the Campiest TV Show.
In addition to the show-based awards, GALECA honored several individuals for their contributions to entertainment. Writer, comedian and actor Julio Torres received the Wilde Wit Award, which celebrates “a performer, writer or commentator whose observations both challenge and amuse.” Alan Cumming, the award-winning actor and host of the reality show “The Traitors,” took home the GALECA TV Trailblazer Award, while legendary comedian and actress Carol Burnett was honored with the GALECA TV Icon Award.
GALECA, comprised of over 500 entertainment critics from various mainstream and niche media outlets, advocates for the recognition and respect of LGBTQ” voices in entertainment.
