Recently retired soccer star Ali Krieger gets her time to shine with a profile in SELF. Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson and GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Robinson and Ellis attended and spoke at the 54th session of the World Economic Forum this week, bringing attention to LGBTQ+ issues to the gathering of politicians, thought leaders, business leaders and more. The two women participated in the “Corporate Allyship in a Fractured World” panel moderated by Axios Chief Technology Editor Ina Fried. Prior to the panel, The Partnership for Global LGBTIQ+ Equality hosted a “Pride on the Promenade” event, also attended by Robinson and Ellis.
Pennsylvania launches new coalition to fight extremism in PA schools. Pennsylvanians for Welcoming and Inclusive Schools launched this week to work against discrimination and extremist policies “including those targeting trans and other LGBTQ+ students — as well as systemic racism, disinformation and other aspects of extremism.” This new coalition includes groups like the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association, HRC, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania.
“Gender Pioneers: A Celebration of Transgender, Non-Binary and Intersex Icons” book now available in the U.S. Written by London-based artist Philippa Punchard, the book looks at the long history of transgender, intersex and gender nonconforming people. In fact, the book begins with the statement, “TRANS PEOPLE ARE NOT A NEW THING.” Learn about these individuals’ legacies, from ancient times to more modern lives.
